Currently
Marcus Hannon PhD serves as the Lead Performance Nutritionist for the Qatar Football Association and Aspire Academy, where he leads high-performance nutrition strategies for footballers in Doha. He is also an Associate Researcher at Liverpool John Moores University, actively contributing to sports nutrition research since March 2021. His current focus is on developing nutritional strategies to optimize athlete performance in team sports.
Professional Career
Marcus has gained extensive experience working with elite teams and athletes. He was the Head of Nutrition at Aston Villa Football Club from 2020 to 2022 and served as the performance nutritionist for professional boxer Carl Frampton. Previously, he worked with other prestigious sports organizations, including Northampton Saints and Everton Football Club, where he managed performance nutrition for their academies. Additionally, he collaborated with rugby teams such as Wasps Rugby and Ulster Rugby. Academically, he completed his PhD in Applied Physiology and Sports Nutrition at Liverpool John Moores University, where he researched the energy requirements of Premier League academy football players.
