Tim Meyer

Prof. Tim Meyer has been the Medical Director and a full professor at the Institute of Sports and Preventive Medicine at Saarland University, Germany, since October 2008. He serves as the Chair of the Medical Committee of the European Football Association (UEFA) and the Medical Committee of the German Football Association (DFB). Additionally, he is a member of the DFB's Anti-Doping Committee and the Medical Committee of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB).

Professional Background

Prof. Meyer is a key expert in UEFA's Return to Play protocol task force. He leads the international doctoral program Science and Health in Football and previously chaired the Institute of Sports Medicine at Paderborn University in 2007. His habilitation thesis at Saarland University focused on applications of gas exchange measurements (2006). His primary research areas include clinical exercise physiology, recovery, and training prescription, with a special focus on football. He has supervised numerous training studies involving elite and recreational athletes and has authored over 100 publications in leading scientific journals.
