Matthew Buckthorpe is an applied researcher and practitioner focusing on sports injury rehabilitation and prevention and performance coaching, working at the Education and Research Department of Isokinetic Medical Group (Italy). He has been a Consultant in Performance Science at Southampton Football Club (UK), and a Sports Scientist at Fulham Football Club (UK). His education includes a Master of Science (MSc) and a PhD in Sports Science at Loughborough University, and he has researched in the area of neural contributions to movement and in particular explosive muscle strength, and the validity and reliability of vertical jumping in professional football.
