Matthew Buckthorpe
Meet him
Matthew Buckthorpe is a lecturer, applied researcher and practitioner within the fields of sport, exercise and rehabilitation science.
Currently: He is a lecturer at St Mary’s University in Sport Rehabilitation and consultant to Isokinetic Medical Group’s Education and Research Department, where Matt has been working with for many years.
Academic background: Previously Matt has consultant to the Performance Science department of Southampton Football Club. Matt’s educational background is in Sports and Exercise Science with Bachelor (Uni of Leeds), Masters and PhD (Loughborough University) degrees. Matt’s PhD research was focused on neuromuscular performance, whilst Matt’s post-doctoral work focuses on rehabilitation and prevention of ACL and muscle injuries.
Research papers: Matt has around 50 publications with many published papers in leading Sports Science and Medicine journals.
