Albert Valentín i Escolano is a member of the Football Science Institute faculty, bringing a strategic perspective on professional football through sporting management, scouting, talent management and elite academy development.
Currently
Since 2025, he has been working in Football Advice and Management at Al Rayyan SC, where he contributes to strategic advisory processes related to sporting structure and talent development in professional football.
Previously, between 2024 and 2025, he was part of the coaching staff of the Qatar National Team as an assistant coach, working within an international high-performance environment.
Professional background
Albert has built an extensive career in sporting management and technical leadership within elite clubs and academies. He began his career as a footballer at FC Barcelona and UE Figueres, later taking on responsibilities as Sporting Director and General Director at UE Figueres.
Between 2003 and 2008, he served as Sporting Area Coordinator at RCD Espanyol, overseeing the club’s sporting structure. Later, from 2010 to 2015, he worked as Technical Secretary at FC Barcelona, leading a team of scouts and serving on the Technical Committee alongside Andoni Zubizarreta and Narcís Juliá.
His international experience includes his role as Deputy Sporting Director at Olympique de Marseille, as well as his work as Technical Director of the Al Rayyan Academy in Qatar, where he was involved in the design and implementation of long-term talent development models.
In 2009, he led the Promoáfrica project, structuring a football talent identification system across several African countries, laying the foundations for international scouting models focused on player development.
Teaching and outreach
Albert is the author of books such as Sporting Management in a Professional Football Club and SCAN: Scouting and Analysis, which are considered reference works in the field of football management and performance analysis.
He has been a speaker at international conferences and events in cities such as Milan, Abu Dhabi, London and Doha, addressing topics including talent identification, sporting models and knowledge-based decision-making in professional football.
His profile combines hands-on experience at elite clubs, strategic leadership and strong teaching skills, establishing him as a reference figure in sporting management and analysis in modern football.
