Responsible for analysing matches and tactical situations to provide valuable insights across different contexts, such as media outlets, scouting departments or football federations, among others. Produces strategic reports and player studies while identifying trends and playing patterns. The role also involves creating accessible content for less technical audiences. Tactical analysis may be shared through articles, podcasts or sports programmes.
Enables coaches and training professionals to conduct tactical analyses of opponents and their own team’s performance without fully relying on a specialised analyst profile. Supports the planning of training sessions based on real match scenarios, while helping players understand tactical concepts and improve decision-making on the pitch. This module introduces students to the foundations of game analysis, providing a solid base in key concepts, methodologies and technological tools used in modern football. It covers data collection, processing and structuring, as well as an introduction to data science and big data applied to performance and game analysis.
This module focuses on the organisation, processing and presentation of information obtained through analysis. Students work with report templates, weekly workflows and the practical application of data in the context of both their own team and the opposition. You will learn to design observation sheets, tagging systems and structures that facilitate decision-making in professional environments.
This module explores collective game analysis, integrating the study of the own team, the goalkeeper and the use of data analytics applied to football. It addresses the modelling of football metrics and the analysis of physical data to interpret collective performance. The objective is to develop a global vision of the game to optimise team performance.
This module provides in-depth training in individual game analysis, covering specific situations such as offensive and defensive set pieces, free kicks, corners and fast counter-attacks. It examines individual behaviours within the collective context, offering tools to assess and optimise player performance in key game situations.
This module focuses on specific tactical analysis in football, exploring both game analysis and opposition analysis. It studies the weekly work structure applied to tactical analysis and introduces the subjective and objective dimensions of analysis through the combined use of video and data. The module enables a comprehensive understanding of the opponent’s playing style.
This module expands tactical analysis through the practical application of information within the weekly work structure and the collective analysis of your own team. It explores throw-ins and live tactical analysis, preparing students to evaluate matches in real time and support decision-making during competition.
This module introduces an advanced perspective on the game through the system vs. system relationship, analysing how collective structures and match-ups create or neutralise competitive advantages. It explores the player within the system, their functional roles, player interactions and emergent behaviours. The module also addresses team self-management as a performance driver, supported by interviews with elite figures such as Xavi Hernández and Javier Mascherano.
This module deepens understanding of the game process through analysis of the use of space and time, distinguishing between being and appearing in playing zones and the timing of actions. It examines the development of playing identity in women’s football and the role of leadership in creating high-performance environments, supported by real elite case studies.
This module analyses the game from a position-specific perspective, addressing the role of the goalkeeper, centre-back and striker in both defensive and offensive phases. It connects locomotor and physical profiles with the tactical demands of each position, incorporating the direct insights of professional footballers to contextualise positional behaviours.
This module focuses on analysing the game in possession, studying structured attacking play through the phases of progression, consolidation and creation. It examines offensive transitions, the first-wave counter-attack, and tactical reorganisation, as well as the balance between width and length in real competitive contexts.
This module addresses analysis of the game without possession and in specific situations, focusing on offensive and defensive set pieces, their design and organisation to maximise expected goals. It also explores pressing as a tactical tool, analysing objectives, structures and triggers, supported by elite-context content and interviews.
The final module focuses on the design of technical-tactical training through Preferential Simulation Situations that replicate real decision-making cues. It covers rondos, positional games, possession progressions, finishing drills and the complete session structure, directly linking training to competition.

We have brought together one of the most respected international communities of professionals who research and work in tactical analysis in football to provide the theoretical and practical perspective you are looking for. If you would like to put everything you learn during the Master’s programme into practice, FSI Training gives you the opportunity to apply for placements in elite clubs. We have agreements with more than 40 football clubs worldwide, offering you a unique opportunity: to train directly within the internal structure of these clubs and work side by side with their technical staff.
Internships may be completed as professional staff members or as research profiles (through our FSI Labs division). In all cases, our internship programme is entirely voluntary and always open to FSI Training students. You may choose to complete an internship at a specific club and, if you wish, apply for additional placements in different clubs in the future.
If internships do not align with your preferences, there is no obligation. Participation in placements is optional, and you are free to decline. Your Master’s training will remain fully valid, and you will receive your certificate in the same way.
