Álvaro Reina is part of the Football Science Institute faculty and serves as Co-Director of the Tactical Analyst Master’s Degree, bringing a comprehensive vision of game analysis, tactical methodology and decision-making in professional football.
Currently
He currently works as an Assistant Coach and Performance Analyst with the Qatar Football Association, operating in a high-performance international environment where he combines tactical analysis, strategic planning and direct work with players and coaching staffs.
In parallel, he maintains a strong connection with professional football and higher education, contributing to projects related to training, research and methodological development applied to football.
Professional background
Álvaro has extensive experience in professional football, having held roles such as Assistant Coach, Performance Director, Tactical Analyst and Scout at elite clubs and national teams.
He has worked with organizations such as Watford FC, where he served as Performance Director in the Premier League and EFL Championship, as well as clubs including Huddersfield Town, Valencia CF, Deportivo Alavés, Málaga CF, Levante UD, AD Alcorcón, Granada 74, CP Ejido and FC Dnipro.
He has also been part of international coaching staffs, notably with the Panama National Team and, currently, the Qatar Football Association.
Education and specialization
Álvaro holds a PhD in Sport Research, a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Sciences and a Master’s degree in Sport and Research, in addition to a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and the UEFA Pro Licence.
