Kirsty Elliott-Sale is part of the FSI Training faculty, providing a reference perspective in female physiology and nutrition applied to women’s sport, with a strong focus on evidence-based practice.

She is Professor of Female Endocrinology and Exercise Physiology at Manchester Metropolitan University, where her work centres on understanding how hormonal profiles influence performance, health, and adaptation in female athletes.

Her academic career spans leading institutions such as Nottingham Trent University, King’s College London, and the University of Brighton, with a sustained focus on exercise physiology and female athlete research.

Alongside her academic role, she has extensive applied experience working with elite sport organisations and professional teams, supporting decision-making related to menstrual cycle considerations, hormonal contraception, and training adaptation.

Her research leadership and applied consultancy have positioned her as a key figure in advancing women’s health and performance, bridging high-quality scientific research with real-world practice in elite sport settings.
