Alberto Valentín has been the assistant coach of the Qatar National Team since July 2024. With extensive experience in sports management, he has held key roles in academies and elite football clubs, combining strategic management with talent development.
Professional Career
Alberto began his career as a footballer at FC Barcelona and UE Figueres, later taking on roles in sports and general management. He served as coordinator of the sports department at RCD Espanyol for five years and as technical secretary at FC Barcelona from 2010 to 2015, where he led a team of scouts and was part of the Technical Committee alongside figures like Andoni Zubizarreta. He also worked as deputy sports director at Olympique de Marseille and as technical director of the Al Rayyan Academy in Qatar.
In 2009, he led the Promoáfrica project, structuring the recruitment of football talent in African countries. Alberto is the author of books such as Dirección Deportiva en un Club de Fútbol Profesional (Sports Management in a Professional Football Club) and SCAN Scouting and Analysis. He has also been a speaker at international events in cities such as Milan, Abu Dhabi, London, and Doha, covering topics like talent identification and sports models.
