Franco M. Impellizzeri is a professor at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. He is internationally recognized for his research in sports science, orthopedics, and clinical research methodologies. He serves as co-editor-in-chief of Science and Medicine in Football and is a member of the editorial boards of journals such as the Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport and the Journal of Hip Preservation Surgery.
Professional Career
Franco has published over 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals, achieving significant academic impact with h-indices of 47 (Thomson Reuters), 50 (Scopus), and 66 (Google Scholar). He was the Head of Research at the MAPEI Sport Research Center in Italy, where he coordinated scientific and training activities for nearly a decade. He also led the Clinical Outcome Research Group at the Schulthess Klinik in Switzerland, focusing on orthopedics and lower-limb biomechanics. Between 2010 and 2011, he served as Head of Research at CeRiSM at the University of Verona, Italy. Franco has also acted as a scientific consultant for prestigious institutions such as the FIFA Medical and Assessment Research Center and the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). His expertise bridges sports science with clinical research applied to health and athletic performance.
