Guillermo Abascal Pérez is a Spanish football coach with extensive international experience. He is currently without a club after managing top-level teams in Europe and Russia. His career includes roles as head coach and methodology leader in youth academies.
Professional Career
Guillermo began his coaching career at Sevilla FC, leading youth categories and working as a fitness coach. In 2017, he took on his first role as head coach at FC Chiasso in Switzerland, followed by his time at FC Lugano, where he became the youngest coach in Europe’s top leagues. In 2019, he served as the head of youth football and coach of the reserve team at Ascoli Calcio, temporarily managing the first team in Serie B.
He later managed Volos NFC in Greece, achieving strong initial results before stepping down in 2021. In 2022, he was appointed interim coach of FC Basel in the Swiss Super League, guiding the team to second place. His most recent positions included managing Spartak Moscow from June 2022 to April 2024 and Granada CF during the 2024-25 season. While facing significant challenges in both roles, Guillermo's expertise stands out for his ability to work with teams across diverse football cultures.
