Keith Baar
FSI Faculty
His role at FSI Training
Keith Baar is part of the FSI Training faculty, contributing a leading scientific perspective in musculoskeletal physiology and the application of exercise science to performance, injury prevention, and recovery.
Currently
He is Professor of Physiology at the University of California, Davis and Director of the Functional Molecular Biology Laboratory, where his work focuses on how exercise and nutrition influence muscle, tendon, and ligament health.
Professional background
Keith Baar earned his PhD at the University of Illinois, where he identified key mechanisms by which exercise stimulates muscle hypertrophy, laying the foundation for much of his subsequent research.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with elite sporting organisations such as Chelsea FC, Paris Saint-Germain, USA Track and Field, and the Denver Broncos, translating laboratory findings into applied performance strategies.
His research has been central to advancing knowledge on tendon training, the interaction between loading and nutrition, and the preservation of muscle mass, with direct impact on athlete performance, injury resilience, and long-term health.
