Susan Backhouse is part of the FSI Training faculty, contributing expert insight into sports integrity and anti-doping prevention within high-performance sport.
Her academic contribution focuses on understanding athlete behaviour and developing evidence-based strategies for clean sport and athlete protection.

She is Professor and Director of Research and Knowledge Exchange at the Carnegie School of Sport, Leeds Beckett University, where she leads the strategic development of impactful research in sport and society.
She also chairs the WADA Taskforce on Unintentional Doping, providing expert guidance to support evidence-informed approaches to preventing inadvertent doping.
Professional background
Since 2003, she has developed a strong research profile in sports integrity, leading international projects funded by the European Commission and organisations linked to elite sport.
She completed her PhD at Loughborough University and has built a career at the intersection of psychology, behaviour, and clean sport, becoming an international reference in anti-doping and sport integrity.
