Stuart Phillips
FSI Faculty
His role at FSI Training
Stuart Phillips is part of the FSI Training faculty, contributing a leading scientific perspective in dietary protein and exercise-induced muscular adaptations, translating decades of basic and applied research into high-performance sport contexts.
Currently
He is a Distinguished Professor and Tier 1 Canada Research Chair at McMaster University, where he leads advanced research on skeletal muscle health and directs the McMaster Physical Activity Centre of Excellence, integrating science, exercise, and clinical application.
Professional background
With more than twenty-eight years of research experience, his work focuses on the interaction between exercise and nutrition to optimise muscle function, particularly in contexts of ageing, disuse, and disease.
He has published more than 500 peer-reviewed scientific articles and is internationally recognised for his contributions to the study of muscle protein synthesis, sarcopenia, and the mechanisms underlying muscle growth and loss.
At FSI Training, he delivers sessions such as Promotion of effective adaptation to exercise training through dietary protein and Mechanisms of skeletal muscle growth, providing a rigorous and applicable framework for nutritional and training decision-making in high-performance sport.
