Christopher Carling is part of the FSI Training faculty, contributing a globally recognised perspective in performance science, applied analysis, and elite performance management within professional football and high-performance sport.
Currently
He currently serves as Head of Elite Performance & Research at the French Football Federation, where he leads performance strategy, research, and innovation initiatives across national teams and elite development structures.
Professional background
With more than 30 years of experience in elite sport environments, Christopher Carling has built a career that integrates applied science, research leadership, and strategic performance management in professional football.
He spent a decade at Lille OSC as a performance scientist and has collaborated on high-level projects with clubs such as Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Olympique de Marseille, as well as with national performance centres including Clairefontaine and INSEP.
He holds a PhD in Sport Sciences and is the author of more than 140 peer-reviewed scientific publications, as well as a member of editorial boards of leading international journals, combining scientific rigour, applied transfer, and leadership in data-driven performance methodologies.
