FSI Lab Research

Injuries and rehabilitation

This line of research aims to improve the understanding of injury occurrence in football by analysing the circumstances and risk factors associated with different types of injuries. It also investigates rehabilitation processes and return-to-play protocols, integrating biomechanical, physiological and epidemiological perspectives to enhance player safety, optimise recovery and support evidence-based decision-making.

Injury Mechanics Match Analysis

Research focused on analysing the biomechanical and contextual mechanisms of injuries occurring during football matches, examining movement patterns, match situations and external factors that contribute to injury events.

Soleus injury

Research dedicated to the analysis and management of soleus muscle injuries in football players, investigating injury mechanisms, diagnostic approaches, rehabilitation strategies and return-to-play criteria to optimise recovery and reduce reinjury risk.
