Graeme Close is Co-Director of the Master in Nutrition at FSI Training, contributing a scientific and applied perspective in sports nutrition and human physiology focused on high-performance sport.

Currently

He is Professor of Human Physiology at Liverpool John Moores University and works as a consultant in nutrition and physiology for elite sports organisations such as England Rugby, the DP World Tour Golf, and Premier League football clubs.

Professional background

He has an extensive academic career, with more than 240 scientific publications focused on sports nutrition, muscle damage, vitamin D, muscle ageing, and emerging applications such as cannabidiol in skeletal muscle.

He obtained his PhD from Liverpool John Moores University in 2003 and combines his research activity with academic leadership, regular participation as a speaker at international conferences, and collaborations in science communication media.

From an applied perspective, he has worked with elite athletes and professional teams in rugby, golf, and football, standing out for an evidence-based approach and the direct transfer of scientific knowledge to athletic performance.
