His role at FSI Training
James Morehen is part of the FSI Training faculty, contributing extensive applied expertise in performance nutrition, body composition management, and elite athlete fuelling strategies, grounded in over a decade of experience across professional sport.
Currently
He is the Lead Performance Nutritionist for England Rugby Senior Men and Performance Nutritionist for Bristol Bears (Senior Men, Senior Women, and Academy squads). He also provides evidence-based nutritional support to world-class athletes across boxing and motorsport, while leading his own consultancy, Morehen Performance Ltd, and directing the global community The Performance Nutrition Network.
Professional background
Dr Morehen has held senior roles within elite sport, including Lead Performance Nutritionist for the England Women’s National Football Team at The Football Association, where he also supervised doctoral research on energy expenditure and intake in international female footballers. His career spans rugby union, rugby league, football, boxing, and professional motorsport, working closely with performance, medical, and culinary teams to integrate nutrition within multidisciplinary environments.
His applied work covers fuelling and recovery strategies, body composition assessment (DXA and skinfolds), supplement governance, performance menu design, and in-house research, always underpinned by evidence-based practice. Alongside his consultancy with professional athletes and blue-chip organizations, he is also the host of the Get Pro Performance Nutrition Podcast, contributing to knowledge dissemination within the field.
At FSI Training, he delivers the session Fat loss programs for football players within the Football Nutrition Master, providing a structured and practical framework for optimizing body composition while maintaining performance levels in elite footballers.
